Who we are/what we do:

Big Umbrella Support services is a not for profit organisation that works specifically with families and children/ young people with challenging behaviours and/ or complex needs.

We believe that services should not depend solely on diagnosis but instead upon the individual requirements of every child and their families. For this reason we welcome referrals for both children with and without specific diagnosis.

Our beliefs:

We believe that behaviour is neither positive nor negative but is in fact simply an action with a consequence. As a society we have come to label behaviour according to our own personal beliefs, local community beliefs and the wider social beliefs/expectations. Behaviour is often a form of communication and the person carrying out the action is conveying a message; it is how we interpret this behaviour which defines it.

We believe that every child and young person has a right to fair and equal access to appropriate education, community services/events and activities. Each and every child and young person deserves to be treated with respect, to be valued and loved. All children should be given opportunities to have fun and positive experiences. We are committed to these beliefs and our company is based on this ethos.
